Instructions

  • To a large mixing bowl add the warm buttermilk, warm water, yeast and sugar. Stir to dissolve and let sit for 5 minutes or until foamy.
  • Next, add the melted and cooled butter, egg, salt, garlic powder and flour. Using the paddle attachment or dough hook, mix until a soft dough forms. Scrape the sides of the bowl to incorporate all of the flour then mix again for 5-8 minutes.
  • Place the dough ball into a greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
  • Punch down dough to release the air then roll into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Top with cubed Arla® Muenster Cheese then roll into a cylinder. Slice the roll in half then twist the two pieces together like a braid.
  • Place the twisted bread into a greased loaf pan, cover with greased plastic wrap and proof for 30 minutes.
  • While the bread proofs, preheat the oven to 350°F and make the garlic butter by combing melted butter, Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  • After the 30 minutes are up, brush the loaf with the garlic butter and bake at 350°F for 45-55 minutes.
  • Remove bread from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes in the loaf pan, then remove from the loaf pan and cool on the wire rack. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
